Who Are We?
A
group of
volunteer coaches
facilitating educational opportunities and athletic excellence. We
promote physical fitness and sportsmanship to challenge our youth
and keep them engaged in a
positive environment.
In 1996 we started with twelve 10 and 11 year old young men. The
program has since grown to over 100 young men and women ranging from
ages 10 to 17. In 2007, the season brought on the first ever Lady Rohawks Team. The Lady Rohawks participate in a number of Age Groups. The current team(s), as with past teams, participate in some of the most prestigious events that girls’ basketball has to offer, such as the Deep South Classic in North Carolina, Cy-Fair Spring Class in Houston, Best of the Midwest Jam in Chicago, Summer Derby in Kentucky, and several other key events in the local and surrounding areas. The highlight of the summer springs from the “Ladies First” Tournament, in which our Lady Rohawks will host nearly 80+ teams from Houston, Dallas, Lubbock, El Paso, and cities far and between. Last season, this was one of the largest all girls event in the City of San Antonio; bringing the most talented players in to compete on the highest level.
The
base of our program started in the Converse, Live Oak, Universal
City and Schertz communities outside San Antonio. We have since
grown to include young men from Boerne, East Central, New Braunfels,
Smithson Valley, South San Antonio, Southwest San Antonio and East
San Antonio. The growth we have experienced has helped us bring
together young athletes from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
These opportunities have aided immeasurably in their personal growth
and social development. Our diversity gives the youths of our
program the opportunity to witness, experience, and more importantly
appreciate the different cultures that shape San Antonio.
